Green Collar Jobsgreen-jobs-green-collar-blue-collar

What was once blue is turning green.  Green collar that is.  A sprouting labor force in the environmental sector has been growing rapidly in the last few years.  What’s a green collar job you ask? “It has to pay decent wages and benefits that can support a family. It has to be part of a real career path, with upward mobility. And it needs to reduce waste and pollution and benefit the environment.” says venture capitalist Phil Angelides.

However fast (or slow) the federal government chooses to move, many state and local cities such as California and San Fransisco are a step ahead in proposing and passing policies and programs designed to improve environmental quality. The opportunities for a gentle transition from traditional blue-collar to green-collar jobs such as those listed below are finally coming to fruition thanks to organizations like the Apollo Alliance (think Steel Workers Union meets Sierra Club).  With the support of major business, labor, environmental, and community leaders; Apollo Alliance has the inside track on green-gigs throughout the U.S..  Visit their site for extensive information on the Green Labor Force.
