There are websites that big companies spend a ton of money on and look really cool, and then there are really websites that big companies spend a ton of money on and look really cool. This is most definitely the latter.
The smart grid as a concept is pretty futuristic and mind blowing, but when you can hold a hologram of it in your hands, see the sunrise from your palm and have little birdies fly around your room, you might just blow your mind all over your computer monitor.
The site is courtesy of GE. While there is a ton of cool stuff on it, the ‘augmented reality‘ is the craziest. Fair warning, be prepared to download the new Flash player, tinker around with your webcam a bit and print out a piece of paper (I just used my laptop to show the PDF). However, it is totally worth it. When you’re done, you should go plant a tree or something to make up for all the time you just wasted staring like a slack jawed yokel into your computer.
